AN auto spare parts seller at the popular Ladipo marker along Oshodi/Apapa expressway Lagos, Alexandra Igwewongwu and three other persons have been arrested for an alleged armed robbery. The four suspects were arrested by Police detectives attached to Ire-Akari Divisional Headquarters led by the Divisional Police Officer DPO, Superintendent of Police SP Timothy Folawo Adeola. Police sources gave the names of the three other suspects as Messrs Collins Ogwale, Jamiu Idowu, Lukmon and Jimoh Ogun. According to sources, the suspected robbers had laid siege to the resident of an unnamed legal practitioner after it was learnt the lawyer came in with about N4m he was paid by his client. Armed with every imaginable weapon at their disposal including guns, the suspects forced open the legal practitioner’s apartment doors and ransacked all the nook and crannies of the flat but could find any money. In anger, they were said to have carted away the plasma television set on the wall and other valuables found in the victim’s bedroom and bolted away. CrimeWorld weekly gathered that the stolen items were later deposited at the shop (warehouse B) of the spare parts seller who sources said was the mastermind of the robbery. Upon return, the lawyer who it was gathered was shocked by the incident rushed to the Ire-Akari Police station to incident the report. It was hinted that detectives promptly swung into action which led to the arrest of the four suspects.
Some of the stolen items said to have been recovered from the warehouse were also deposited at the Police station. As of the time of this report, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole could not be reached for comment as he was said to be on a honey moon after the his weeding on Saturday April 27, 2017 neither was a text message sent to his mobile handset was responded to. Even the DPO, SP Adeola declined comments on the ground that he was not competent to do so. But a senior Police source at the station who craved anonymity informed that the suspects were still undergoing interrogation while a fleeing accomplice indicted in the operation was being sought after.
