LAGOS-TRAGEDY struck at the early hour of Tuesday in Ago Palaceway Okota, Lagos after a commercial bus violently collided with a tricycle, killing all occupants including the driver.Multiple sources told the Guardian that the bus was being chased by some officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority LASTMA for alleged traffic offence when it skidded off the road and rammed into the Keke Marwa, killing the occupants on the spot.An eye witness who do not want his name mentioned said an official of LASTMA was actually in the bus warning the driver to drive to halt adding the driver refused to stop hence they started dragging the steering and eventually hitting the tricycle violently from behind. “I was watching the bus and it was in a full speed while a LASTMA man was inside arguing with the driver.
Suddenly, they started dragging the steering while the bus was still on motion. It eventually collided with a Keke Marwa in which a pregnant woman who was taking her two children to school that morning was and another passenger. The four of them inuding the driver died on the spot,” he added.Frantic efforts to get the reaction of the Director, Public Affairs Enlightenment Department, Taofiq Adebayo on the matter was not successful. He had yet to also reply to a text message sent to his line as of the time of filing this report.
