Police intensify fight against cultism in Lagos, sweep metropolis of 23 suspected cultists

THE war against cultism and cult-related activities embarked upon by the Police in Lagos State under the watch of Commissioner of Police CP Imohimi Edgal appears to be gaining momentum by the day as no fewer than 23 suspected cultists were rounded up in their various hideouts in the state in less than one week of random raids. The CP while briefing newsmen Wednesday; on the achievements hinged the success so far, on community policing and community safety partnership that had been the nucleus of his crime fighting strategy since assumption of office last year; vowing that the onslaught would continue until the state was completely rid off the menace of cultism.

Ilemba–Hausa Division– 01/06/2018 – One Uloma Okafor, ‘f’, 15 years of age was viciously raped by three men whose names are:
Ibeji Chukwuemaka 21years; Caleb Isaac 21years; and Paul Ehimika 23years. The suspects allegedly blindfolded her with a red scarf and took turns to rape her in their room at  52 Jagua Street Itakete Imude in Ajangbadi area of Lagos State. During interrogation, the suspects denied being cultists but confessed raping the teenager. Meanwhile during execution of a search warrant in their abode, the following items were recovered:
One  cutlass; one red scarf with which they blindfolded the girl, was recovered in their room.
Suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
The Command undercover operatives in conjunction with men of FSARS, smashed an armed robbery syndicate that usually operates in Ladi Lak Bariga, Fadeyi, Onipanu, Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Ilasan areas of the State.  Their names are; Ibrahim Odulana ‘m’ 30years alias Santa; Ahmed Alegbe 25, a.k.a ‘Big Ahmed’; Adebayo Fabiyi  20; Balogun Segun 27 a.k.a ‘Paparazzi’; and Abass Ganiyu  35.
They all confessed to be members of Aiye confraternity and had been robbing people at the aforementioned places.
Exhibits recovered on them are; One  pump action riffle; two  locally made pistols;
eight  live cartridges; one Samsung handset; and one itel handset.
Arrested for Similar Offences in Ajegunle area of the State are:
Chinonso Uzoma   32 ; and Seun Alaba 25.
Exhibit recovered from them are; One  locally made pistol; and one  expended cartridge.
They were arrested by men of Ajegunle Division in conjunction with a team of FSARS Operatives. All the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is over.
On 30/05/2018 at about 1400 hours, credible information was received by the O/C Anti-Cultism Unit on the activities of a notorious cultist, Fatai Olayinka ‘m’ a member of the Eiye confraternity. Based on the information, the suspect was trailed and arrested at Owode Onirin, where he was in the process of selling one stolen Toyota Avanza car with Reg. No. EPE-124-DH, colour Brown. The suspect confessed to have stolen the said car and confirmed belonging to the dreaded Eiye confraternity.
Suspect will be charged to court at the as soon as investigation is concluded.
The following cultists were arrested in places and dates indicated against their names:
Itire – 03/06/2018 Emodi Daniel ‘m’ 18 years; Adeyemi Raphael a.k.a Omo Jesus ‘m’ 20 years; Oloruko Oba Sunday 20 years; Olowole Kumo Sodiq ‘m’ 21 ; Omotayo Hafiz  19 ; and Olowokere Michael a.k.a. Eje Jesu  18.
Ikorodu – 02/06/2018 Taye Kasali 25 ; Dare Ayoola 24 .
Meiran – 04/06/2018 Yinka Oyetoka 25 ; Rasheed Orefuwa  20 ;
Adekunle Sheu 22; Kunle Lateef 21; Jimoh Azeez 21; and Segun Mojere 20.
Aboki Estate Elegusi Beach – 30/05/2018 Tosin Yusuf 27; Damilare Adebowale  35 ; and Ogunlade Ademola 29.
Ajangandi– 02/06/2018
Ibeji Chukwuka 22; Paul Ehimika  23 ; and Isaac Caleb 21.
Badagry Road– 02/06/2018 Afeez Abubaka 18 ; and Ahmed Jamiu 22.
Oworonshoki– 26/05/2018 Emanuel Okon 29 ;
