ABUJA- TO prove that his leadership of the Nigeria Police Force NPF would be worth the while, newly appointed Inspector General of Police Ag IGP Baba Usman Alkali has hit the ground running with the visit to the office of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund. The new police helmsman who moved straight from the Ask Rock Villa shortly after he was decorated by Vice president Yemi Osinbajo said he his decision to make the office of NPTF as first point of call followed the critical role of the office to the welfare of officers and men of the Force. Received by the Executive Secretary of the Fund, Hon. Aliyu Ahmed Sokoto, Ag IGP Alkali who visibly grins from both cheeks pledged his cooperation with the organization which he describes as critical. A statement signed by NPTF public relations officer, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi and made available to CrimeWorld magazine online quoted the new Police boss as saying that, making the office of the NPTF as first point of call was to drive home the indispensible function of the Fund to the Police; adding “The Police Trust Fund is my first port of call after being decorated as the new Acting Inspector-General of Nigeria Police Force to let you and members of the Nigeria Police know that the intervention of NPTF is highly needed and expected at this crucial time,” adding, “…the mission of the Trust Fund targeted at having a well-trained, well-equipped and highly-motivated Police Force will be supported by my administration with unwavering cooperation.”
Continuing, the statement stressed, ‘The Executive Secretary of NPTF, Hon. Aliyu Ahmed Sokoto earlier in his welcome address expressed his appreciation to the IGP for choosing NPTF as his first duty-call after being decorated by Vice President at the State House. He said “The visit of the acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, will not be taken for granted, maintaining, “This visit underscores the importance of NPTF’s much needed intervention for the Nigeria Police Force.” He went on to assure the Acting Inspector-General of Police of his administration’s commitment to the mandate of the NPTF, noting,”We at NPTF promise to work assiduously to deliver on the Fund’s mandate to the Nigeria Police.”
