ABUJA- CHAIRMAN of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC, Professor Boalji Owasanoye has told how his operatives investigated a sleazy estate developer at the federal capital territory Abuja and recovered a whopping N53 billion naira for the Federal Mortgage bank.
Prof. Owasanoye, dropped the hint during a meeting with the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee Investigating the Operations of Real Estate Developers in the Federal Capital Territory. According to him, the developer took the money without providing houses for its subscribers in defiance to signed agreement.

He vowed that the Commission would naturally hunt down criminal minded real estate developers who collect money without providing housing for those who subscribed for it.
Reacting, Chairman of the Ad hoc Committee, Blessing Onoh, who corroborated Professor Owasanoye’s stance viewed with astonishment exacerbating rate of fraudulent real estate developers duping anxious would be house owners at the FCT.
A statement by ICPC spokesperson, Mrs Azuka Ogugua obtained by CrimeWorld magazine online which conveyed the feat achieved by the Commission also decries the dearth in housing at the federal Capital Territory occasioned by sleazy real estate developers who were wont to cash in on unsuspecting subscribers especially, the civil servants to commit their atrocities.
The statement reads: “The lack of openness is also creating problems. Government should at least put information in the public domain where people can easily verify details of land. A lot of people are scammed from fake layout, double allocations and others.”
