LAGOS- EAGLE-eyed operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service NCS Seme Border have intercepted a truck laden with bags of Cannabis Sativa otherwise known as Indian Hemp masterfully buried in sand along the ever busy Seme-Badagry expressway. Sources said the killer dried weeds were wrapped in 3,186 parcels tucked in 41 bags with a duty paid value put at N91, 488,977.00 (Ninety-one million, four hundred and eighty-eight thousand, nine hundred and seventy-seven naira only) .

A statement signed by the Command’s public relations officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs, ASC1 Hussaini Abdulahi and made available to CrimeWorld Magazine online which confirmed the interception did not however say whether any suspect was arrested with the interception but quoted the Customs Area Comptroller, CAC BM Jibo as commending the officers for a job well done.
His statement reads thus: “In a bid to stem the tide against smuggling, officers and men of the Seme Command of the Nigeria Customs Service based on credible intelligence intercepted a tipper truck in the early hours of hours of Tuesday 29th June,2021 suspected to be carrying smuggled Cannabis Sativa along Seme-Badagry road.

After careful examination, the vehicle was found to contain –Fourty- One (41) sacks containing Three Thousand One Hundred and Eighty Six (3,186) parcels of Cannabis Sativa, the Duty Paid Value (DPV) is Ninety One Million, Four Hundred and Eighty Eight thousand, Nine Hundred and Seventy Seven Naira (N91,488,977.00) only. While, commending the gallant officers and men of the Command for the remarkable achievement, the CAC Comptroller BM JIBO urged officers to sustain the tempo with a view to fight smuggling within nooks and crannies of the Command in whatever form and urge officers to always collaborate with the host community in ensuring a harmonious relation to achieve more results.

To this end, the CAC is calling on the General Public to cooperate with NCS while we continue to implement Federal government policies to generate revenue improve the economy and provide professional and quality service that will enhance development to the country.”
