JUST IN: Two gunned down as Police battle kidnappers in Delta State… rescue 16 victims unhurt

CRACK Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad RRS, Delta State Command in the early hours of Thursday, engaged a gang of heavily armed kidnappers in a fierce gun battle killing two in the process. Other members of the notorious gang escaped with varying degrees of bullet wunds. Sources said no fewer than 16 persons held hostage by the hoodlums were rescued unhurt. A statement signed by the PPRO of the Command DSP Bright Edafe and made available to CrimeWorld magazine online informed that an Ak47 assault rifle and a Toyota highlander used by the kidnappers who double as transit armed robbers were recovered. as the command has recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against criminals. On the 3/3/2021, acting on a tip off, that some group of armed robbers/kidnappers were sited opposite federal road safety corps (FRSC) office Asaba, a team of Rapid response squad (RRS) operatives, raced to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel. Two of them were fatally injured and later died, while others escaped. One
AK47 rifle with BREECH No. 19567, and two Magazines with 18 rounds of live ammunition were recovered. On the same 3/3/2021 at about 1937hrs, a distress call was received that workers of one Zion Onofighe ‘m’, a hotelier, of Zion compound Abraka were being attacked by gun men at his site in Ogor, Ughelli. Patrol teams dispatched to the scene, engaged the hoodlums in a shootout. They rescued the hotelier and sixteen (16) workers unhurt. Also a Toyota highlander jeep was also recovered from the scene. Manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.”
