POLICEMEN and journalists alike were shellshock Friday, after the secondary School teenage girl arrested for a locally made pistol in school confessed that she belongs to a female cult. The teenager names withheld until her arrest was a student of Community Secondary School, Ikot Ewa in Akpabuyo LGA, Cross River State. She was said to be very brilliant but behaves as someone under a spell sometimes. Reports say she took the gun to the school in anger to allegedly shoot one of her teachers for forcing her to cut her locked hair to size. But in her confessional statement at the Diamond Hill, Calabar Police Headquarters where she had been in detention, the school girl who didn’t betray any emotion while being paraded along side other sundry criminal suspects revealed that she belongs to the Sky Queens Konfraternity SQK She further confessed that the gun was given to her by her man friend who she claimed had been sleeping with her since August last year because the said man had been responsible for paying her school fees and upkeep bills. “I am a member of Sky Queen Konfraternity SQK, I am just an ordinary member, I don’t hold any position in the group, I have known the owner of the gun who is my man-friend since last year, he sleeps with me and supports me with little things, but he is not the one paying my school fees. My mother knows about him because he visits me at our house and sometimes he sleeps over at my place because I have my own room then in the morning he goes back to his own house,” she said.
But briefing newsmen in Calabar, the Cross River Commissioner of police, CP Sikiru Akande disclosed that Investigation revealed that the girl was taking the locally made double barrel pistol cut to size to a blacksmith; adding, “From what we have been able to get from her so far, a suspect identified as Okon Effiong who she points to be her man friend is said to be the owner of the gun but we are determined to get to the bottom of the matter with a view to knowing how the Okon who is also in our custody got the gun.” CP Akande therefore, enjoins parents and guardians to vigilant about the kinds of friends their wards keep.
On his part, the manfriend to the schoolgirl, Okon Effiong told CrimeWorld magazine online that he had been with the teenager since August last year as attested to by stressing that he had been supporting her and her family with the little he has even though he’s married with six children. She is my girlfriend, am thinking of marrying her in no distance future. Presently, I am a married man with six children. Concerning the gun, I did not give it to her, she took it herself where I kept it under the bed. We started sleeping together in August 2020, her mother knows me, I have been doing small, small something on her head, they know she is going to be my wife in future. Honestly, I didn’t know when she took out the gun that has landed me in trouble. The truth is that she complained about a teacher troubling her in school, but I didn’t know it got to such extent of taking gun to school to shoot him.”
