Crime of passion: Man pummels wife to death over alleged infidelity

HOMICIDE Detectives at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department SCIID Panti, Yaba Lagos State are currently grilling a middle aged man for allegedly beating his wife to death over allegation of infidelity. The man identified as David Idibie who resided on Joado Street O Ira-Nla Aja, an outskirt of Lagos with his late wife Juliana Idibie, reportedly engaged her in a heated argument following which a fight ensued. Reports say David who lost his job last year had been inundated with complaints of his wife’s alleged extra-marital affairs adding that the wife had on each occasion denied the allegation. But on the ill-fated day, CrimeWorld magazine online scooped that David who was said to have returned from where he had gone for a run-off-the-mill job to cater to the family met his wife’s absence. According to a source, late Juliana later sauntered into their one room and a parlour apartment to behold an angry David who wasted no time in descending on his hapless wife, dealt her ba few deadly blows irrespective of her frantic explanation that she only visited a friend nearby. Not done with the punching and kicking, David reportedly gave his wife a headbutt, forcing the 42 year old mother to slump with blood gushing out of her mouth and nose. A statement signed by the Command PRO CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobiand and made available to CrimeWorld magazine online revealed that while the deceased was on the floor in the pool of her own blood, David feigned ignorance, adding that she later gave up the ghost in that apartment. The statement reads in part: “On 16th February, 2021 at about 10pm. It was gathered that the deceased had engaged the suspect in a hot argument on certain matrimonial issues and in the process, she slumped and sustained severe head injury. While lying in her pool of blood, the angry husband refused to rescue her until she gave up the ghost,” adding, “The police operatives attached to Langbasa Division, Ajah, who were informed of the ugly incident by a neighbour of the couple, raced to the scene, arrested the suspect and evacuated the corpse to the mortuary.”

CSP Adejobi further informed that the Commissioner of Police CP Hakeem Odumosu has ordered full inquest into the murder adding that the police boss was poised to tackling domestic based violence in the state.
