THE popular saying that one good turn deserves another was aptly replicated at Owutu Police station, Ikorodu Lagos in the heat of the #EndSARS protests that shook the entire nation to its very foundation. Whereas, the Nigeria Police Force has yet to recover from the shock even as it is counting its loses, one of the few Divisional Police Officers whose Division was spared the wrath of the protesters is CSP Margaret Okonkwo Obiora. The former officer in charge of the nauseating Làgos traffic, otherwise known as MOTORPOL who excelled beyond bounds while she held sway, was no less grateful to God Almighty for sparing her Division and officers and men under her. Aside the devine intervention, the woman DPO’s humanness, inter-personal relations with members of the immediate community and her ample knowledge of community policing in line with IGP MA Adamu’s policing models; worked magic when some hoodlums who had hijacked the protest in Lagos surged towards the Owutu Division to raze it down. When our Investigator Reporter who went round the state taking stock of the aftermath of the#EndSARS protest approached her for comments on how she secured the station, she declined comments on the ground she was not authorized to address the press; but reluctantly intoned: “Na God and goodwill.”

However, a source in the area who soughts anonymity told CrimeWorld magazine that apart from God’s intervention, CSP Margaret is one of a kind. Said the source: ” You know this area is volatile, known for cult wars but that they spared the Division and no single policeman was injured while the protest lastedwas purely due to the kind of woman we have as DPO. She is down to earth nice and humble. In this area as I speak, I doubt if there’s any suspect on trump up charges that is in the cell because the DPO will personally attend to each case. She knows when a complainant is lying or skimming to use the Police against a foe. She’s a listening mother. I know God helped her but the magic wand was simply her humility and candour.’

It was gathered that hoodlums numbering over 1000 who had hijacked the protest chanting war songs the old national anthem surged towards the Division; with most of them openly smoking weeds and drinking hard concoctions with a view to razing it down but were stoutly countered by youths in the area who are beneficiaries of CSP Margaret’s benevolence. Sources said when the DPO who had been abandoned by her personnel for fear of the unknown came out apparently to calm down the protesters, the youths simply gestured to her to get inside with the assurance that there was no cause for alarm. Sensing that their evil intent had hit the brick wall, the hoodlums reportedly detoured to the express road in disappointment.

The DPO of Owutu Divisional POLICE Station CSP Margaret Okonkwo Obiora, has narrated how Owutu Youths in their Hundred rises to help defend and protect the Station from setting ablased by notorious hoodlums in the area. The woman DPO who full of grace and surprised at the suddened turn around of support by the young lads, described them as a very peacefull leaders o
