Police stray bullets kill 16 yr-old SS2 boy in Lagos

SPORADIC gunshots; allegedly fired by some Policemen attached to the Badia Divisional Police Headquarters, Amukoko Lagos State has sent a sixteen year old senior secondary school student to his early grave.  The deceased identified as Emmanuel Chukwu sources said was an SS2 Student of the Randle Secondary School, Apapa. CrimeWorld scooped that the late Emmanuel who was jolted from his sleep by a tumultuous noise had stood at the front of their number 7, Fadaini Street resident wondering what the problem could have been. But seconds later, he was found to have slumped in the pool of his blood having been hit by stray bullets fired by Policemen who were repelling some irate youth who had stormed the station demanding the release of an unnamed female kidnapper.  The unnamed female kidnapper was said to have earlier in the day kidnapped a 5 year-old boy in the area and was apprehended by some eagle-eyed vigilant youth in the area. It was gathered that the youth were about lynching the woman when a detachment of Policemen arrived the scene, rescued and took her into protective custody. Not satisfied with the Police action, the protesting youth were reported to have stormed the station and demanded that the woman be handed over to them for instance justice to serve as deterrent adding that, their actions were becoming riotous and that prompted the Police firing sporadic gunshots to disperse the surging crowd.  It was not possible to get the reaction of the Police public relations officer, SP Chike Oti as of the time of filing this report but sources close to the family quoted mother of the deceased person, Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwu as saying that reckless use of fire power, sporadic gunshots without any just cause was the stock-in-trade of Policemen in the area especially, in Badia Amukoko. The source also quoted her as vowing to ensure to get justice for her brilliant and promise late son who was full of life before being cut down by the recklessness of the Policemen.
