AKWA-IBOM State Police Command has announced the appointment of a new Police Public Relations Officer PPRO in the person of Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Bala Elkana. SUPOL Elkana took over from Chukwu Ikechuchukwu who has since been deployed to Ewet Housing as the Divisional Crime Officer DCO. The new Police spokesperson sources said, wields an intimidating resume withal being a lawyer, who had traversed various Police departments including serving as the Niger Command’s PPRO. A statement made available to CrimeWorld weekly newspapers shows that the new Police image maker who only joined the Force sometime in 2003 has all it takes to weather the tempestuous turbulence of his new office going by his wealth of experiences. The statement reads in part: “DSP Bala Elkana was enlisted into the Nigeria Police in 2003. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) and Master Degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. He attended several courses, among which are Detective Course, Emergency Management Course, Combat Operation Course, Community Policing, Leadership Training; and Public Relation courses. He served in various capacities and departments such as Criminal Investigation Department, Divisional Operations Officer, Divisional Police Officer, Community Policing Adviser/Trainer, Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State, among others. Until his recent posting, he was the officer in charge of Community Policing, Akwa Ibom State.”
