LAGOS-LAGOS State Police Command yesterday said, it had arrested the randy police officer simply identified as Supol Owolabi attached to Ogudu Area Command for alleged forcefully having canal knowledge of a teenage girl in his office. The Commissioner of Police CP Adegoke Fayoade who confirmed the arrest said the action of the Senior police officer runs foul of ethical standard assuring that justice will be served.
He said investigation had already commenced with a view to ascertaining the officer’s culpability adding, “The officer involved in the act of the rape of a 17 year old girl has been arrested. I have directed a full-scale and thorough investigation into the allegation. The general public should be rest assured that there is absolutely no attempt at a cover-up as such hideous act is at variance with the code of conduct and professional ethics of the Nigeria Police Force.
If found culpable, the officer would be dealt with in accordance with police regulations and the law.”Sources said the suspected officer had overheard the girl narrating her ordeal in the hands of ‘one chance’ robbers which resulted in the loss of her phone. The officer reportedly called the mother of the girl on June 29,2024 that her daughter’s lost phone had been recovered and the robbers had been arrested and directed her to send her daughter to his office to collect the phone.
On getting to the station, the unnamed teenage girl was told that the phone was not her’s and that those arrested had nothing to do with her attackers. She was however, directed officer Owolabi’s office for further details. While in the office, the officer reported locked the door of his office, pocketed the key and started rough-handling the girl.
When she resisted, the officer reportedly brought out his service pistol, corked it and threatened to shoot. He finally had his way and thereafter after the sex rump, warned the girl not to tell anyone; stressing that she should regularly report to his office.
