LAGOS– THOUGH, the Police Pervice Commission PSC has yet to make official statement, feelers has it that President Muhammadu Buhari has transmuted a letter to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria asking it to confirm ex- Inspector-General of Police ex- IGP Dr. Solomon Arase as the next substantive Chairman of the commission.
CrimeWorld magazine online authoritatively gathered that President Buhari’s request was contained in a letter read by Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President on the floor of the upper legislative chamber today.
The president based his request on sections 153 (1) and 154 (1) of the constitution as amended. Born on June 21, 1956, Arase, the 18th IGP, retired as the head of the Nigeria Police Force about a year after President Buhari assumed office.
Recall that The former IGP was appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan. It is expected that the PSC would soon come up with an official statement on the appointment shortly.
