LAGOS– TO entreat on residents of the war-torn Baga community in Borno State, that peace had returned, the Nigerian Navy has hosted the Chief of Naval Staff CNS end of year youth football tournament.

Sources said one of the major reasons for the championship was to celebrate victory against insurgency and the return of normalcy to the hitherto Boko Haram conquest.

According to sources, Prizes were awarded to outstanding individuals and trophy handed over to the team that emerged champions.

The CNS, Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo it was further gathered also donated a borehole water supply project as part of CIMIC and was commissioned by his representative in the Baga community.

“While the security situation in the general area remains stable, troops have maintained defensive position and gurarrantee gradual return of economic activities;” said a source.
