ASABA- EMOTIONS went high Wednesday morning in Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State as a care giver to a pregnant woman who had taken her to the General Hospital the previous night preparatory to be delivered of her baby came back the following morning only to find her on the floor stone dead.
Impeccable sources who identified the deceased expectant mother as Ann Nwabunor said that it was her first pregnancy adding that she was full of joy expecting her first baby only to die with it. Sources added that the unidentified caregiver was most distraught when she found out that all the nurses on duty were deeply asleep fueling speculations that all the screams for help by the deceased while she struggled after fallen off the bed could not be heard.
When CrimeWorld magazine online visited the hospital at about 11.25am that day, nurses were spotted in clusters discussing the sad incident in hush-hush tones adding that some whispered that it was because the deceased was brought in late when nurses were dog-tired and slept off; leaving her unattended to.
A video of the incident which went viral on the social media showed a woman lying lifeless on the floor with the person behind the camera weeping and lamenting the halfhearted attitude of nurses prevalent at old and well funded general hospital.
Contacted, the spokesman of the Delta Police Command Asaba, DSP Bright Adafe said he was yet to be briefed of the incident promising to get back to us when he gets full details of what actually happened. But he had yet to get back to us as of the time of this report. It was also not possible to ascertain whether the Delta State Government had come out with an official statement on the incident.
