ABUJA- FOR CSP Adegoke Atilade, the randy Divisional Police Officer DPO Denton Division, Ebute-Metta Lagos who traded his enviable office for a sex rump, he may just have begun the journey to an abrupt end of his career as the evolving scenario clearly suggests.
Fellers from the Force Headquarters and the Police Service Commission PSC Abuja respectively, indicated that following a query slammed on him by the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command CP Hakeem Odumosu for carelessly losing his service pistol in a yet to be determined circumstance after rounds of sex with his side chick, Jennifer Madueke, his personal files both at the Force Secretary and the PSC had been removed from the general officers’ shelve and dumped in Pending Disciplinary Matters PDM corner.
The implication of this a senior Police source at the Force Headquarters whispered to CrimeWorld magazine online is that if CSP Atilade’s course mates were to be promoted now, he would not benefit for the promotion until he faces the Police disciplinary panel which shall in turn, make recommendations to the PSC which again would sit and invite the erring senior Police officer for another round of investigation and interrogation.
According to the senior Police source, if at the end of the panel of inquiry at the PSC he is found either culpable or absolved of the offence, it is the PSC that has the final say in this regard; adding that even if the pistol were to be recovered now, it does not invalidate the query already issued to him which copies had gone to his personal files at the Force Secretary and at the PSC office respectively.
Said the Police source: “CSP Adegoke Atilade is simply being stupid; it were better for him for the station to be engulfed in fire than losing his service pistol. He knows the importance the Force attaches to arms and of course the implication of losing one, because these lost arms will eventually find their way to wrong hands and that is very dangerous. I am not too sure if he is in his right senses at all; because as a trained officer, the moment he discovers that his pistol was missing, what he needed to do was invite the said girl who was with him before the loss, beg her, ask her what she wants and give to her before taking any action; assuming what he told the press is real, not detain the girl and asked his men to torture her to submission.”
Continuing, the senior Police source added, “It is even an offence for a Police DPO to allow anybody no matter how related, to sleep in his office when that person is not a suspect. Even as a suspect, assuming you want to accord him or her a special privilege and want him or her in your office, that person is closely monitored. What he has succeeded in telling those who will decide his fate is that he was negligent. And by the way, who asked him to talk to the press because I first read the story in The PUNCH where he was quoted narrating how he met the girl after losing contact for a year or so, and later went to club with her friend and because it was late, decided to allow them pass the night in his office and all what not… I do not think he is fit to be a Police officer in the first instance”
Earlier, a state from the Police public relations officer of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu had said that the DPO in the wake of the scandal had been queried and redeployed from the station. But he did not however, tell where the DPO was redeployed to as of the time of this report. His simply said, “This is to inform the general public that the Lagos State Police Command is not oblivious of the reported case of theft of service pistol against one Jenifer Madueke ‘f’ and the allegation of sex in the office against DPO Denton Police Division, CSP Adegoke Atilade as published on page 4 and 5 of today’s edition of the Punch.
In the interest of fairness and justice, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered an independent, thorough and unbiased investigation into the case. Members of the public are hereby assured that appropriate actions will be taken against anyone found culpable at the conclusion of the ongoing investigation such that at the end, justice would have been served.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has directed immediate redeployment of the officer in the eye of the storm so as to pave the way for diligent and unbiased investigation.
