THE Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Onikan Lagos comprising Lagos and Ogun States, AIG Ahmed Illiyasu, the Commissioners of Police of the two States, CPs Hakeem Odumosu and Kenneth Ebrimson Thursday took time out to lead by example as they personally went to the states’ border to monitor the level of compliance of the lockdown order. Sources said the AIG who was impressed by the level of compliance attributed it to community policing model that has brought cooperation between members of the immediate community and the Nigeria Police Force. The Police AIG said, “There has been a huge compliance about the lockdown in both States so the few people apprehended does not imply failure of the exercise, since the country is not totally shutdown. This therefore, calls for continued synergy between the two states, in order to sustain the cooperation and success recorded in our avowed determination to make Lagos and Ogun a crime free zones.”
Reacting, both Commissioners of Police assured that they would jointly work assiduously with a view to complementing the good policing legacy of the AIG who had served as CP Ogun State before his elevation adding that there couldn’t have been a better period to synergize than the covid-19 pandemic era. The joint monitory patrol also had in attendance of sister agencies like the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps TRACE, Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC, Vehicle Inspection Officers VIO, So- Safe Corps and select members of the Police Community Relations Committee PCRC.”
