THE visible recklessness and arrant disregard for people’s lives by drivers under the employment of Nigerian industrialist and billionaire business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote was again, brought to fore in Lagos after six persons were crushed to death by one of his many trucks. This is even in defiance of the state at home lockdown order by the government over the corona virus pandemic. Sympathizers who throng the horrific scene were full of condemnation over lack of respect for people’s lives by the reckless and killer Dangote drivers across the country. Sources said the accident involved a taxi cab and Dangote Cement Silo truck adding that it happened on Tuesday afternoon along Epe Long bridge, in Epe area of Lagos State.

Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu who described the accident as horrific said the Dangote truck which was heavily loaded ostensibly tripped while trying to overtake the taxi cab with seven occupants, six passengers and the driver and fell on it. “It is sight better imagined. On arrival at the scene, we discovered that a Dangote Cement silo truck with unknown registration number had fallen on a fully loaded commercial taxi OPEL Car with Registration Number SMK-312ES. Investigations revealed that a total of seven people were in the car. It is not certain whether the driver of the truck sustained any injury because he was not found at the scene.”
a visibly distraught Femi who questioned why people have remained stiff-necked in abiding by simply stay at home order within a short period for the sake of their lives said, “We also wish to appeal to members of the public to comply with the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines laid down by the governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwolu, to avoid endangering themselves as well as the rescue workers who are already operating under extremely challenging conditions.”
