GREEN-EYED ex-banker with one of the second generation banks, Lament Christopher is presently cooling off his heels in the cold cell of the Police for allegedly attempting to stab his wife, Comfort to death. Sources said the couple who had been married for the past 13 years hails from Akwa Ibom State adding that the union was blessed with two children. The cause of the present scuffle that almost resulted in death was not immediately know but a close resident of 23 Jossy Castro Street, Bariga Lagos where the couple also resides who spoke to CrimeWorld on condition of anonymity said they had been locked in unresolved and irreconcilable quarrels bothering on lack of care on the part of the jobless husband and alleged infidelity on the part of the wife shortly after the husband lost his job. “The couple lived here with us happily together to the envy of some of us but this misunderstanding started about a year after Mr. Lament lost his bank job. Even madam (referring to the wife) is also not doing anything. I think they always fight because the wife accused her husband if lack of care and that he should go and look for another job to cater to his family. The husband on the other hand started suspecting his jobless wife of seeing another man when he started seeing new clothes and other women’s accessories with his wife,” said the source.
The Lagos State Police Command public relations officer, DSP Bala Elkana who confirmed the arrested and detention of the ex-banker and father of 2 in statement said it followed an alarm raised by residents adding that the knife with which the suspect wanted to commit murder had been recovered and marked as exhibit. DSP Elkana’s statement reads: “On 2/2/2020 at about 1730hrs, Operatives from Bariga Police Station arrested one Christopher Lament, 45 years at No 23 Jossy Castro Street Lagos for attempting to kill his wife, Comfort Christopher of the same address with a knife. The woman was rescued by the Police following a distress call received. The knife was recovered and registered as exhibit. The couples were married for 13 years and blessed with two children, ages 11 and 9. Both are from Akwa Ibom State. The suspect lost his banking job 5years ago and the woman is not working. The couples were having series of crisis underpinned on matrimonial rascality and lack of maintenance. The recent situation that led to the attempt made by the suspect to stab the victim with a knife; started with a mere argument. Investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged to Court.”
