FOLLOWING the recent elevation of some senior Police officers to their next rank, the Force Headquarters announced Friday, the deployment of the affected officers and their portfolios. Whereas, the new DIGs had since assumed duties in their respective portfolios, the announcement of the deployment of the new AIGs showed that Mr. Muazu Zubairu who was until his promotion held sway as the Commissioner of Police CP Lagos Command has been moved to the Counter-Terrorism Unit CTU at the force Heaquarters Abuja while his Kano counterpart, Mr. Ahmed Ilyasu would now man Zone 2 Command Headquarters Onikan, Lagos respectively. Other affected officers are AIGs Dan Bature, now in charge of Force Administration, Hyelasinda Kimo Musa in charge of PMF, Yunana Y. Babas has been moved to Zone 8, Lokoja while Dan Mallam Mohammed is now in charge of SPU. Others are Rabiu Yusuf now in charge of ICT, Mohammed Uba Kura has been deployed to Maritime, Zaki M. Ahmed has been moved to Zone 6, Calabar, Zama Bala Senchi is now in charge of Community Police, Bello A. Sadiq has been deployed to Zone 1 Kano while Austin Agbonlahor Iwero and Lawal Ado has been deployed DOPS Force Headquarters and Works respectively. Recall that AIG Ilyasu was CP Ogun before he was moved to Kano and promoted AIG. CrimeWorld was authoritatively told that CP Hakeem Odumosu is to take over from the outgoing AIG Muazu as CP Lagos State Command while former CP Lagos and later CP Marin, Mr. Edgal Imohimi has been deployed to Ogun State Police Command. A statement from the Force public relations officer DCP Frank Mba said the new appointment takes immediate effect.
CP Odumosu who is expected to resume duty on Tuesday was Chairman, Lagos State Task Force on Environment and Miscellaneous Offences under Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu and later Commander of the state’s security outfit, the Rapid Response Squad RRS under Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola. Until his recent deployment to Lagos, CP Odumosu was in charge of the Presidential Taskforce on Apapa Ports decongestion after he was moved from Edo State Command. A Lagosian and godson to the national leader of the ruling APC and the dark-goggle-wearing Oba Akinolu of Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu’s home coming was said to have been greatly influenced by the ‘Lion of Bourdillon’ having failed last year to bring back his former Chief Security Officer CSO, now Commission of Police CP Egbetokun presently serving at the Kwara State Command.
