A gang of daredevil armed robbers weekend in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital threw caution to the wind, stormed the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation NNPC Mega Station and beheaded a Police Sergeant and another security personnel who were on guard duty at the station. Sources said the both the Policeman and the security personnel whose identities were yet to be ascertained as of the time of this report were fast asleep when the men of the underworld struck. It was not also clear whether the robbers carted away valuables from the station but sources said hinted that they made away the Sergeant’s AK47 assault riffle and some live ammunition. CrimeWorld scooped that the bizarre incident which has sent cold shivers down the spines of residents had forced the NNPC mega station to close shop for now fueling agitation that there might be another round of artificial fuel scarcity.
The Kwara State Police Command PRO DSP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident in a telephone chat saying the Command was already investigating it vowing that perpetrators would soon be rounded up. “The information is true jare, but we are investigating and I promise you that the hoodlums would soon be brought to book,” he said.
