IT was wild jubilation weekend in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital as the most wanted kidnap kingpin and assassin that had reign supreme in the state and environs, Ekweme Ike alias Lucifer was brought to his knees. Sources said Lucifer had boasted of an invincible status maintaining that he could neither be arrested nor killed any mortal not even the Police. According to sources, the hitherto intractable criminal had at several occasions exchanged gunfire with the Police, leading to unreported deaths of Police personnel but he shot his way to safety. However, he was finally liquidated last week in a sting operation led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Shem Evans who had painstakingly kept a tab on the notorious criminal’s activities in the state.
apparently overwhelmed by the news of the death of Lucifier, the Command’s image maker DSP Nnamdi Omoni in a telephone conversation said the deceased suspect was responsible for all the kidnappings and hijacking of commercial buses on the Ndele axis of the East/West Road adding, “The CP has commended the ACP and team for a job well done, the entire Rundele community had been thrown into a wild jubilation as a result of his death. As I speak with you, I can authoritatively tell you that efforts were on to arrest his accomplices and completely bring to end the reign of Lucifer and his cohorts in the state.”
