WHEREAS, the unwarranted dust spewed by the rather ‘shocking appointment’ of Mr. Edgal Imohimi as the new Commissioner of Police CP Lagos State Police Command is yet to settle, the workaholic, non-nonsense and highly disciplined Police officer has hit the ground running with the summary redeployment of Chief Superintendent of Police CSP Akanade Adejobi, the man in charge of Anti-kidnapping and cultism in the state over allegations of irreconcilable corruption and professional misconduct. Recall that CSP Adejobi and his errant boys were alleged in a petition by the Network on Police Reforms in Nigeria NOPRIN to the new Police helmsman to have unlawfully detained one Blessing Taiwo and collected bail money to the tune of N50, 000 following complaint by one Mrs. Abiola Osagie alleging that the former stole her $50,000.00. The petition further alleged that aside the detention and collection of N50,000 bribe, CSP Adejobi reportedly defied all entreaties from well-meaning Nigerians including senior Journalists and  even the new CP to release the detained Blessing and her seized handset; Blessing’s sibling who was bring food for her was sexually molested by CSP Adejobi’s boys on each occasion.  CrimeWorld weekly newspapers was told that when CSP Adejobi later buckled and released Blessing, he stood his ground that unless the balance of N20,000 bail money was paid, her handset would not be handed over to her.

But a visibly disturbed CP Imohimi  who sources said has resolved that the bare face and arrant disregard for human rights that reigned supreme in  the ousted regime of CP Fatai Owoseni was totally buried, has mandated DCP Salami in charge of SCIID Panti Yaba to carry out due diligence on the allegations and make appropriate recommendations. And to further buttress that he was out to police Lagos State with human face, CP Edgal in a stamen by his public relations officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole said he has equally invited both complainant and ‘suspect’ including the national co-coordinator of  NOPRIN, Mr. Okechukwu Nwaguma for meeting slated for September 5, 2017 in his office.

While commending the CP for his sound sense of judgment, discipline and professionalism ahead of the slated meeting, NOPRIN in a letter dated September 1, 2017 and signed by the national co-coordinator, Mr. Nwaguma said, “NOPRIN notes that this is a heart-warming and refreshing beginning by the newly appointed CP. Policing should be transparent and accountable, and this is what the new CP seems to have boldly demonstrated by his prompt response to this complaint. This singular action by the CP and the feelers concerning his track record indicate that the new CP’s sense of professionalism, hard work and integrity and his intolerance for corruption, misconduct and abuse, stand out.  Indeed, NOPRIN has received positive attestation that Lagosians are in for a good deal with regards to policing under the new CP.”
